There are various areas to investigate, including the museum, train station, woodland areas as well as the mine, we will be holding vigils in all these areas over the course of the evening using a variety of methods

Trained mining staff will be in attendance at all times whilst vigils are being held in the mine.

There is a cafe on site selling hot food and drinks at very reasonable prices,which will remain open all through the event.

Our first visit to this location was in November 2011 and we had a very active night indeed. We are looking forward to revisiting this location again. Tickets are strictly limited.

So here is some history on Shrewsbury which explains why so much activity is likely:
The town was known to the ancient Britons as Pengwern, signifying "the alder hill"; and to the Anglo-Saxons as Scrobbesburh (dative Scrobbesbyrig), which has several meanings; "fort in the scrub-land region", "Scrobb's fort", "shrubstown" or "the town of the bushes". This name was gradually corrupted in three directions, into 'Sciropscire' which became Shropshire, into 'Sloppesberie', which became Salop/Salopia (an alternative name for both the town and its county), and into 'Schrosberie' which eventually became the name of the county town, Shrewsbury. Its Welsh name Amwythig means "fortified place"

Shrewsbury is known as a town with significant medieval heritage, having been founded ca. 800 AD. It was during the late Middle Ages (14th/15th Centuries) when the town was at its height of commercial importance. This was mainly due to the wool trade, a major industry at the time, with the rest of Britain and Europe, especially with the River Severn and Watling Street as trading routes. It is believed that Henry VIII intended to make Shrewsbury a cathedral city after the formation of the Church of England, but the citizens of the town declined the offer.

Over the ages, the geographically important town has been the site of many conflicts, particularly between the English and Welsh. Shrewsbury was the seat of the Princes of Powis for many years; however, the Angles, under King Offa of Mercia, took possession of it in 778. The Welsh again besieged it in 1069, but were repelled by William the Conqueror. Roger de Montgomery was given the town as a gift from William, and built Shrewsbury Castle in 1074, taking the title of Earl. The 3rd Earl, Robert of Bellême was deposed in 1102, in consequence of taking part in the rebellion against Henry I. In 1403, the Battle of Shrewsbury took place a few miles north of the town centre, at Battlefield; it was fought between King Henry IV and Henry Hotspur Percy, with the King emerging victorious, an event celebrated in William Shakespeare's Henry IV, Part 1, Act 5.

The town is home to the Ditherington Flax Mill, the world's first iron-framed building, which is commonly regarded as "the grandfather of the skyscraper". Its importance was officially recognised in the 1950s, resulting in it becoming a Grade I listed building. Shrewsbury in the Industrial Revolution was also located on the Shrewsbury Canal which linked it to the Shropshire Canal and wider canal network of Great Britain.

Shrewsbury has also played a part in Western intellectual history, by being the town in which the naturalist Charles Darwin was born and raised. Nearby is the village of Wroxeter, 5 miles (8 km) to the south-west, where the now ruined Roman city of Viroconium Cornoviorum lies. Viroconium was the fourth largest civitas capital in Roman Britain. As Caer Guricon it may have served as the early Dark Age capital of the kingdom of Powys.

The town was not bombed in World War II and so many of its ancient buildings remain intact and there was little redevelopment during the 1960s and 1970s, which arguably destroyed the character of many historic towns in the UK. However, a large area of half timbered houses and businesses was destroyed to make way for the Raven Meadows multi-story car park, and other historic buildings were demolished to make way for the brutalist architectural style of the 1960s. The town was saved from a new 'inner ring road' due to its challenging geography.

until last year the building was a pub, built in the 1700's it has always been a public house until it closed in January 2010. at this time the owners decided having had 5 landlords in 5 months it wasnt working and so decided to convert it into offices and a show room which an I.T company moved into. Without giving anything away, there seems to have been alot of activity in the past, both myself and other members of staff have experienced things. ex patrons of the pub have also been in and told us of experiences they have had in the past.

since moving in we have learnt a lot about the building including some interesting stories about its uses in the past. its not the biggest place but plenty of room for a couple of groups to spread out and the cellars will be opened up for those who are able to crawl down there ..... very interetesing area!!

Having always rejected previous requests by other groups to hold investigations here, Jane took it upon herself whilst on Holiday in the Channel Islands in August and upon her return to talk to the Executives at JWT. The result of this was that we have been offered an exclusive event as the first people to investigate this active location.

This event is not for the faint hearted, even the most skeptical visitors cannot explain ...the overwhelming feeling of misery and sorrow on entering this location.

There will be snacks and non-alcoholic drinks available at an extra charge at the cafe throughout the duration of the event and we recommend that you dress with plenty of layers as the tunnels can get very cold.

Because this is still living history on the island and descendants of some of the tunnels inhabitants are still alive, we will specifically block certain spirits to avoid distress to any of our guests.

Very soon the Second World War will be something that happened in the previous century and for most visitors to Jersey those years of global conflict are either a very distant memory or just pages in a history book. Nevertheless, for the people of Jersey, the Second World War was a unique and harrowing experience for, during five long years, the Channel Islands were the only British soil to be invaded and occupied by German forces. Like invaders down the centuries before them, the forces that occupied Jersey in the 1940s have left an indelible mark not just on the history of the Island but also on its landscape.

The most fascinating is undoubtedly the vast underground hospital created by the occupiers when Allied invasion seemed imminent in 1944.

It takes just a few steps into the German Underground Hospital to realise just what a feat of engineering was achieved by forced labourers who were marched from every corner of conquered Europe. A chill is apparent within moments of entering the echoing entrance tunnel. This is no fabrication, no late twentieth century theme park fantasy.

This is the real thing. Hewn in human misery. Within yards of the entrance is a section of bare, splintered rock face where a simple plaque records that:
Under these conditions men of many nations laboured to construct this hospital. Those who survived will never forget; those who did not will never be forgotten.

In October 1941 Berlin ordered that the Channel Islands be made into 'impregnable fortresses' to become Germany's Gibraltar, never to be surrendered. Work began at once to create an underground fortress where an entire army division could be protected from any assault from sea or air.

One such excavation were the tunnels that became the Underground Hospital.
Planned as a bombproof artillery barracks and ammunition store, this amazing complex was never completed, being converted into a casualty receiving station (because of its central location in the Island) in the weeks leading up to D-Day. As Allied invasion loomed, unfinished tunnels were sealed off and sophisticated (for their day) air-conditioning and central heating systems were installed behind massive gas-proof doors.

The kilometre-long tunnels and galleries were blasted out of brittle shale with gunpowder and handtools and then clad in 6,000 tonnes of concrete, which was poured behind wooden shuttering, removed once the mix had set. Hundreds of forced labourers rounded up by the Organization Todt in France and including refugees from Spain and Morocco, were augmented by Polish and Russian prisoners of war who were treated no better than slaves and dressed in rags. These workers toiled for twelve hours a day, like ants in an underground hell of dust, smoke and falling rock. Serious injury was commonplace with injured workers being pulled from the rockfaces to be replaced by more unfortunates. Surprisingly there were few fatalities; it is believed that less than ten workers and overseers were killed in explosions or cave-ins.

The tunnels are a work of engineering genius. The whole complex was excavated on a slope so that, by an ingenious arrangement of pipes and culverts, it would drain naturally, a system designed to keep the tunnels free of damp and condensation and suitable for storing ammunition. The system still functions today keeping the tunnels, despite their age, amazingly dry. Fortunately the anticipated invasion (which could have cost thousands of civilian casualties who would not have been catered for in the underground facilities) never took place and the Islands' occupying forces surrendered peacefully on 9 May 1945, a day after the rest of Europe.

Since the 1960s the complex has been progressively and sensitively restored as the definitive museum of the German Occupation of Jersey in a unique setting.

Careful and accurate reconstruction of many of the areas within the Hospital - the operating theatre, doctors and nurses' quarters, wards, offices, stores and several unfinished tunnels - bring to life, with chilling realism, the experience of those who suffered appalling hardships to build the tunnels and offer a glimpse of the subterranean twilight lives of those it was constructed for.

Rare and irreplaceable wartime archive film, much of it shot at enormous personal risk, and one of the largest collections of Occupation memorabilia displayed in a unique environment, bring the experience of thousands of Islanders caught up in war vividly to life.

An exhibition of memorabilia and ephemera assembled by retired curator Joe Miére - who as a teenager was imprisoned by the German secret police for acts of terrorism - poignantly highlights the drama and tragedy of an Island people torn out of their peaceful existence and flung into the turmoil of world war and face-to-face with an enemy literally at the door.

Adjacent to the Hospital, and still largely untouched since the Liberation, is an area to intrigue walkers and military historians alike. Heavily fortified with anti-aircraft gun positions, crawl trenches, barbed wire entanglements and personnel shelters, since the Liberation the area has been in private ownership and has remained an untouched habitat for trees, plants and wildlife.

Tickets for this event are strictly limited and we have arranged for a guided tour/walk of the Tunnels in addition to the investigations that we will be carrting out.

Steeped in History, the walk will is a combination of historical facts and ghostly stories that have been passed to us.

The walk will start and end at the Baillif's House, the last remaining Jacobean building in Bewdley which was saved from demolition in 1959 by the Civic Society, steeped in history, we will have time before the walk to look around us and see if anyone experiences the energy of the spirits that still love this building so much, they still maintain their presence here.
The manager has also offered to do a 'pre-walk' meal for all of those wishing to dine here before the event.

The walk will leave the Bailiff's house at 6.30pm and will include a half hour break approximately mid way through, within another one of Bewdleys historic buildings where you will have the opportunity to purchase drinks, freshen up and warm up a little in this building before braving the elements again to finish the walk.

For those of you who have previously attended the Ghost walk, there are some improvements and changes that we feel will enhance the experience for you.

We welcome young people over the age of 12 years old as long as they are accompanied by a responsible adult.

Apedale Heritage CentreAurora Paranormal Events and Wolf Paranormal Events are pleased to be working alongside each other,to bring you this EXTREME paranormal event.

During our walk round, there is an overwhelming feeling that you are not alone anywhere around this location.

.NB******.. ... Sensible clothing and foot wear is essential at this venue, in fact overalls and boots would not be amiss, it is dirty it is slippy and safety equipment will be provided and must be worn if you dare venture into the mine.

A reasonable level of fitness is needed in certain areas of this location due to the nature (please note this is a working mine). No mobile phones or lighters will be permitted outside of the heritage building, as this could endanger lives.

There is something for everyone at this venue without venturing into the mine itself.
There are various areas to investigate, including the museum, train station, woodland areas as well as the mine, we will be holding vigils in all these areas over the course of the evening using a variety of methods

Trained mining staff will be in attendance at all times whilst vigils are being held in the mine.

There is a cafe on site selling hot food and drinks at very reasonable prices,which will remain open all through the event.
